Special Announcement - CAB and NABC 2011 presents in honor of Rabindranath Tagore's 150th Birth Anniversary
Kalyan Sen Barat
This year at NABC2011 in Baltimore, Maryland, Rabindranath Tagore's 150th Birth Anniversary will be celebrated in a very special way. This celebration will begin with a multimedia presentation by an eminent music director/choreographer from India, Mr. Kalyan Sen Barat, outlining Tagore's philosophy and philanthropy. An amalgamation of live and recorded music, recitation and narration, live dance, videos and audios, this show promises to be a colorful extravaganza spreading Tagore's message of Peace, Universal Love and Love of Nature, as well as how in his poetry and lyrics love for a human being transcends into love for the Omnipresent.
Ms. Pramita Mallick
NABC 2011 is showcasing Ms. Pramita Mallick, a prominent and long standing radio and television artiste in India and a dedicated exponent of Rabindra sangeet. Pramita will present well-researched programs on Rabindranath Tagore containing a mixture of songs interspersed with interesting narrations on various aspects of the poet's creations.

In addition, Ms. Pramita Mallick will be conducting a special workshop on Rabindra sangeet.

In addition to staged programs on Rabindranath Tagore, NABC 2011 will entertain its attendees with a Baitalik - style procession of singers and dancers along the main promenade.

GOPONOCHARINI
  Rabindraalekhya : 'GOPONOCHARINI': a saga of the unsaid inspiration in Tagore's life.
The script is by Ranjan Bandyopadhyay.

Participants :
a. Recitation : Madhumanti Moitra and Satyam Roychowdhury.
b. Anchor : Dr. Ramaditya Ray.
c. Songs : Jayati Chakraborty [noted singer], Saheb Chatterjee [ noted singer and actor] and Mou Roy Chowdhury.
d. Musicians : Babu and Siddhartha.

Koch o Debjani
The dance drama, "Koch o Debjani" will be presented jointly by the West Bengal State Akademi of Dance Drama Music and Visual Arts and the Chhou Dance Center of Rabindra Bharati University of Kolkata. The presentation has been acknowledged as a harmonious blend of poetic cadence and choreographic finesse.
Sradhanjali  
Santiniketan Ashram Sammilani International (SASI) will pay their homage to  Gurudev Rabindranath on his 150th birthday by celebrating it as it is done in Santiniketan but in a compressed manner (the actual celebration is a dawn to dusk event).

The program will begin with a Baitalik, in which participants will enter the auditorium singing a specific song for this auspicious occasion (audience are encouraged to sing also). It will then proceed to a morning chanting prayer. This will be followed by songs, readings, recitations and dances which exemplify the main themes of the celebration. It will end with the Ashram Sangeet.

There will be dramatic unity and cohesiveness in the whole program which should be regarded as drama rather than as a variety program.

Banglar Barsha O Rabi
Banglar Barsha O Rabi - is a tribute of Kalavatee Dance Centre on Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary celebration. The dance recital is a bouquet of Rabindranath’s creations with Indian classical music; wonderfully rendered in Bharatnatyam style on the theme Rain.  It invokes inspiration from Mother Nature to start afresh in the cleansing rain after the unbearable summer days.  It is a call to enjoy life and start on the path to attain eternal ecstasy Concept, Choreography & Direction: Mabhin Ghosh Datta and performed by Mabhin Ghosh Datta and her students.
Rakto Karabi/ Red Oleanders
Bengal Foundation of America

Rakto Karabi, regarded as one of Rabindranath Tagore’s best plays, is the story of a King who barricades himself behind an iron curtain and transforms humans into digging machines who grope in the dark searching for gold. Nandini appears as a savior, who frees them from the tyranny of mechanized bondage.

SASHA GHOSHAL
Anirudhya Kumar Ghoshal (Sasha) was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He left a career in corporate law and went to India to pursue his passion for music, especially “Rabindrasangeet”. He has training in Hindustani Classical music from late Smt. Shanti Chakravorty, Kheyal from Pt. Arun bhaduri, Dhrupad from Pt. Falguni Mitra and Rabindrasangeet from Sri Ashok Das. He is currently an active member and disciple at Smt. Pramita Mallick’s Tagorean BAIKALI institution. He is invited to perform regularly around the world and on various television channels, having collaborated with esteemed artists like sarodiyas Pt. Buddhadev Dasgupta and Pt. Tejedra Narayan Majumder, tabaliyas Sri Bikram Ghosh and Sri Tanmoy Bose and the Violin Brothers of Bengal.

Lopamudra Mitra, daughter of Late, Shree Pranab Mitra and Shreemati Sumita Mitra, is the most popular contemporary bengali singer now. She started learning music from her father in childhood. SASWATA SANYAL

Saswata started singing at a very tender age and was introduced by his mother Smt. Anurupa Sanyal into the world of Rabindra Sangeet. It runs in his family.  Currently based in Toronto, Canada, Saswata has performed widely in India,UK and North America. Saswata is a versatile singer with his golden baritone. He was also the founder member of Tantra, a very popular rock band of the nineties. He is one of the rarest act in the world of music, to perform both Rabindra Sangeet and mainstream Rock Music with equal aplomb. He is a true professional when it comes to both these genres of music. Yes, you have to see it to believe this phenomenon. Saswata says, "when you can sing Rabindra Sangeet, you can sing anything, again, each genre has its uniqueness and you have to demonstrate it by being true to its roots.".

Saswata has already been able to cut a niche for himself with his rendition of soulful Rabindra Sangeet. He has performed quite extensively at the Toronto Kalibari and Vedanta Society and Probashi Bengali Club and events organized by the Bangladeshi Communities of Canada.   Saswata, has performed with Daler Mehndi at the prestigious Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata while rocking with his band and on a more sublime level he has performed before the legends of Rabindra Sangeet, Kanika Bandopadhay and Subinoy Roy. Saswata has recently released from Canada, his new Rabindra Sangeet album, SHUDHU DAKIBO, a collection of nine gems from Tagore.
